How to convert a Decimal to a Fraction?
Step 1: Identify the number of decimal places in your decimal value.
0.75 has 2 decimal places
Step 2: Choose a denominator based on the number of decimal places.
For 0.75, since there are two decimal places, choose 100 (10 raised to the power of 2) as the denominator.
Step 3: Write the decimal as a fraction with the denominator you determined in the previous step.
For 0.75, it becomes 75/100.
Step 4: Simplify the fraction, if needed, by finding the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator and dividing both by it.
In this example, GCD(75, 100) is 25.
So, simplify 75/100 to 3/4.
Examples
$$ 10.5 = \dfrac{105 \div 5}{10 \div 5} = \dfrac{21}{2} = 10\dfrac{1}{2} $$
$$ 4.123 = \dfrac{4123}{1000} = 4\dfrac{123}{1000} $$
$$ 0.275 = \dfrac{275 \div 25}{1000 \div 25} = \dfrac{11}{40} $$
