Paint Calculator
Calculate how much paint you need to cover a given surface.
Without the area of doors, windows, and other elements you don't want to cover with the paint.
Usually between 325-450 ft²/gal [US] (8-10 m²/l)
Result:
This calculator allows you to determine the amount of paint needed to cover a specific surface, taking into account the paint efficiency and the number of layers.
You can input the measured area to be covered (for example, in ft²) or choose the "Surface Dimensions" option and enter the dimensions of the surface, optionally subtracting doors, windows, and ceiling.
How to use this calculator?
If you know the surface area:
- Enter the surface area to cover.
- Enter the paint efficiency.
- Enter the number of paint coats.
- Get the amount of needed paint in the selected unit.
If you don't know the surface area:
- Select the "surface dimensions" option in the "What do you want to input" field.
- Enter the length, width, and height of the surface.
- Optionally, enter the number of doors and windows, so the calculator can subtract them from the surface area to cover.
- Enter the paint efficiency.
- Enter the number of paint coats.
- If you don't want to include the ceiling, uncheck it.
- Get the amount of needed paint in the selected unit.
How to calculate how much paint you need?
Divide the surface area to be painted by the paint efficiency, and then multiply the result by the number of paint coats you want to apply.
Paint needed [gal US] = Surface area to cover [ft²] / Paint efficiency [ft²/gal] * Number of paint coats
Example: How much paint of a 400 ft²/gal efficiency do you need to cover a 60 sq ft room with two coats of paint?
Paint needed = 60 / 400 * 2
Paint needed = 0.3 gal [US]
